Investment Fiji in its efforts to better assist potential foreign and local investors in Fiji is accommodating Mandarin, Korean and Japanese translations on its current website. Important information pertaining to investment opportunities available; steps of registering a business; export information; amongst others have all been translated into the aforementioned languages.
Investment Fiji, Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ravuni Uluilakeba says that “For businesses in Fiji to retain their competitive edge in the future, it is key that we give serious consideration to multilingual websites”. He further added, that “the internet is no longer the English speaker’s domain and statistics show that four of the top five internet using nations in the world are non-English speaking. Investment Fiji is here to ensure that the maximum investment output is achieved in a quick span, hence the need to accommodate these three languages”.
Investment Fiji believes that this change presents a great opportunity as accommodating different languages will allow ease of information gathering and more opportunities for potential foreign investments into Fiji. A cross cultural communication will allow more foreign interest in Fiji especially from countries likes Japan, China and Korea. Investment Fiji has facilitated a number of enquiries from these countries over the last five years and the need to accommodate their language on the website is important and beneficial, given the increasing number of enquiries received.
The Board and Management of Investment Fiji would also like to acknowledge and convey to the Chinese Embassy its heart full gratitude for their financial support to the website project. It is through their support that has enabled the modification and implementation of the project.
Investment Fiji will be launching the new sections of the website on Thursday 22nd September 2011 and will be extending an invitation to various Government Agencies, Foreign Embassies house in Fiji, Private Sector Representatives and the Media to inaugurate this innovation to the current website.
