2012 Exporter of the Year Launch - Press Release

It’s that time of the year again and Investment Fiji is ready to launch the 2012 Prime Minister’s Exporter of the Year Awards. The launch will be officiated by Mr. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Anti-Corruption, Public Enterprises, Industry, Tourism, Trade & Communications, at Holiday Inn on Monday 16th July, 2012.
The launch will be followed by an Application Awareness Drive in Lautoka and Labasa in the same week.
Stakeholders from the private sector, government, non-government and statutory organisations have been invited to the launch and workshops. The Prime Minister’s Exporter of the Year Award is a prominent event that recognizes and honors exporters who have achieved sustainable export growth through innovation and commitment. It recognizes Fijian businesses for excellence and achievement in exporting. The event rewards and profiles the “best of the best” businesses in exporting around the globe.
This year, which marks the 20th year of celebration and with the theme of “Celebrating 20 Years of Global Recognition” has bought about changes in the awards category by focusing more on the Sector - Based Awards. The total categories have been trimmed down to 12 from the initial 18.
Investment Fiji, Chief Executive Officer states that “The Awards are an avenue to reward and give accolades to Fiji’s Exporters and rightfully so, Investment Fiji will play a more rigorous role this year in calling for applications from exporters not only in the Central/Eastern and Western Divisions but also in the Northern Division”. He further adds “Over the years, winners have been exemplified as role models for Fiji’s business community – leading by example through their drive to achieve success overseas and their significant contributions to the economy”.
Investment Fiji encourages and hopes to attract more companies to participate in the event this year.
