The JETRO has been supporting developing countries by introducing them to the Japanese market and providing them with opportunities to promote their exportable products to Japan. At the PIE which targeted on assisting companies from Pacific Islands in promoting their products to the bigger Japanese markets. Investment Fiji had nominated Kahuna Herbal Products to represent Fiji at this exhibition.
The event was officially opened on the 24th May at the Exhibition Hall which was attended by the rest of the participating Pacific Island countries. At the exhibition on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th May, Kahuna Herbal Products met with various Japanese business and exhibitors. Saturday 26th was allocated for site visits whereby the exhibitors were taken on a tour of the three different market venues in order to get a first-hand look at Japanese marketing and packaging requirements. The exhibition concluded on Monday 28th at the Exhibition Hall which was attended by visitors and potential clients till the closing.
According to the participant, Managing Director, Kahuna Herbal Products, Ms. Doreen Robinson, “As a relatively new business, Kahuna Herbal Products has gained an enormous amount of insight into the Japanese Noni market in general as well as significant potential to eventually secure an export order. Our unique Noni Honey proved very popular indeed and may well have secured an order in itself but bulk quantities will not be available until 2013. Noni Juice appears confined to a small select market and sells at quite a high price”.
She further added that,” Breaking into the Japanese market is not an easy task with all its stringent regulations and requirements as well as the language barrier, but it is a challenge worth pursuing and my summation is that if you can successfully export to Japan, you can export to anywhere in the world. I would like to acknowledge the support of the Ambassador and staff of the Fiji Embassy in Tokyo during the exhibition and last but by no means least, the ongoing support of Investment Fiji”.
Investment Fiji Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ravuni Uluilakeba said that, “International exhibition as such held for Pacific Island countries provide an opportunity for Fiji to showcase its products to the rest of the world. It thus becomes the foremost role of Investment Fiji to identify such growing companies who could use these opportunities in identifying their export counterparts and expand their businesses”.
