$400k cheque handover to Government

Investment Fiji handed over another cheque to Government totallying $402,513.04 for Foreign Investment Registration Certificate registration applications on Tuesday, November 4, 2015 for the months of May to September.

Investment Fiji Chief Executive Officer, Mr Godo Müller-Teut handed the cheque to Ministry of Finance Permanent Secretary, Mr Filimoni Waqabaca.
"This brings the total amount of reimbursed Foreign Investment Registration fees to Government since January this year to approximately $672,504.34, which is a period of nine months," Mr Müller-Teut said.

With respect to the handover, Mr Müller-Teut said the amount was made of proposals received by foreign investors interested in setting up business in Fiji.

"A total of 159 project proposals were received by Investment Fiji for the period of from May to September 2015," he said.

"This was with a proposed total investment value of $392.44m and proposed employment of 1668 jobs. These statistics surpasses those of the same period last year, where 108 proposals were received with proposed employment of 1287. The proposals Investment Fiji received from the beginning of the year to date are generally in the Services, Wholesale and Retail, Tourism, Manufacturing and Real Estate sectors."

Mr Waqabaca thanked and acknolwedged the gesture by Investment Fiji adding that it was a sign of confidence expressed by foreign investors.
"I thank you for this noteworthy contribution. It certainly is indicative of the positive assuarance by our foreign investors of Fiji's stable economy," he said.

"It also demonstrates that foreign investors trust Fiji and its pro-business policies to set up business here, which means more jobs for Fijians."
