Invesment Fiji signs MOU with Ministry of Lands

Date: 05 Nov, 2015

Investment Fiji today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Lands for the ultimate purpose of strengthening Fiji’s investment climate.

Investment Fiji Chief Executive Officer, Mr Godo Müller-Teut signed the MOU with the Ministry of Lands Permanent Secretary, Mr Tevita Boseiwaqa.

“The MOU will allow information sharing between Investment Fiji and the Ministry of Lands to ease the implementation of projects by investors,” Mr Müller-Teut said.

“It will greatly assist us in our role as the facilitating arm for investors to have partnerships like this with various Government agencies to ensure that projects are implemented on time. When projects are realized on time, the economic benefits to Fiji will be almost instantaneous with more jobs created and better growth to the economy.”

Mr Boseiwaqa said Government was happy to assist if it meant a positive indication towards the ease of doing business in Fiji.

“The signing demonstrates Government’s commitment to growing the economy. It will ensure that we will help each other in exchanging information that will no doubt ease the way projects by investors are implemented and cut down the wait time,” the Permanent Secretary said.

The MOU is one of five that have been signed between Investment Fiji and other Statutory Agencies such as Department of Immigration, Reserve Bank of Fiji, Fiji Revenue Customs Authority, and i-Taukei Land Trust Board.  Investment Fiji is working on drafting MOUs with other agencies for better collaboration.
