219 applications for 2022 Prime Minister’s International Business Awards

The Prime Minister’s International Business Awards has seen an increase in the application numbers for 2022 as compared to the previous event in 2019.  A total of 219 applications have been submitted through an online portal for all thirteen categories in various sectors.

This has been a reflection of the growing Fijian economy and businesses that have subsisted and still thriving from the challenges of the past two years due to the global pandemic, according to Investment Fiji Chief Executive Officer Kamal Chetty.

“Now entering its 30th year, the Prime Minister’s International Business Awards has till date inspired countless businesses to diversify their potential. Winners from past award ceremonies are making significant contributions to the Fijian economy,” mentioned Chetty.

“We are overwhelmed with the applications that we have received so far and I would like to thank all applicants who have submitted their applications.  The next step obviously, is the judging process, and we have engaged high-caliber and experienced judges from the private and public sectors who will vet the applications,” he said.

The theme for the 2022 Prime Minister’s International Business Awards is ‘Recovery, Resilience and Progress’ and the awards ceremony is a celebration of the businesses that have endured the challenges of the global pandemic, through diversification and innovation incorporated into their operations.

“This demonstrates that the Fijian Government values and recognizes businesses for their achievements, innovation and resilience, mainly as they strive to grow and expand their global footprints.”
