A Big Win for Fiji’s Digital Future

The official opening of Duco Consultancy’s new office in Nadi is a major milestone for our country. A New Zealand-based consulting and services company, established in 2018, Duco has built a reputation for delivering practical, high-quality, and client-focused solutions across various markets and sectors.

As a global company with over 225 experts, Duco has chosen Nadi to be their new center for high-tech work, specifically focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning. This is not just a new office; it is a clear sign that Fiji is ready to compete with the best in the world.

Duco Consultancy's Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Chandan Ohri shared that they chose Fiji because of our "immense potential" and our people.

He noted that Fijians are capable and adaptable, and have a strong willingness to learn new skills. Because of this, the Nadi office will now be a Center of Excellence, where local teams will use AI to create new ideas and provide high-value services to big companies in Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.

“We aim to grow to a 300+ high-performance team globally, with the majority of this growth driven by the Fiji delivery center,” Ms. Ohri said.

Duco has successfully delivered projects in Fiji for clients including Fiji Revenue and Custom Services, Fijian Holdings Limited, Digicel, and many others.

A Billion-Dollar Goal

Chief Guest Hon. Manoa Kamikamica spoke about how important this is for our economy.

“Right now, the business and tech outsourcing sector (known as BPO/KPO) brings in 300 million in foreign exchange and supports 8,000 jobs,” he said.

He said the Government’s goal was to grow this sector to be worth over a billion dollars and create more than 40,000 jobs for our young people in the next 10 to 15 years.

Why KPO Matters to Investment Fiji

For Investment Fiji, the Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) sector is one of our most important areas of focus. We are working hard to bring more companies like Duco Consultancy to our shores because these jobs are different. Unlike basic customer service roles, KPO work is about high-level skills like data analysis, digital transformation, and now, the power of AI.

AI is the future, and having a company like Duco here means our local talent is learning how to use these tools to solve real business problems. By investing in our people—our greatest asset—and building a strong digital infrastructure with new subsea cables, we are making sure that Fiji is not left behind.

This opening is proof that Fiji is becoming a hub for technology and innovation in the Pacific. It shows that when we combine our skilled, professional workforce with the right global partners, there is no limit to what we can achieve.

We are proud to see our local talent stepping up to lead in the world of AI, and we look forward to seeing many more success stories just like this one.
