Austrian Trade Mission to Explore Investment and Partnership Opportunities in Fiji
Fiji will welcome a delegation of Austrian companies from August 30 to September 2, 2026, as part of a trade mission organised by ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA, Austria's official trade promotion organisation. The visit will include meetings with Government agencies, industry representatives, business leaders and potential investment partners in Nadi and Suva.
The delegation brings together companies with expertise in renewable energy, infrastructure, healthcare, critical communications and industrial safety – sectors that align closely with Fiji's national development priorities.
Among the visiting companies are ANDRITZ, an international technology and engineering firm with strong expertise in hydropower and renewable-energy infrastructure, and Global Hydro Energy GmbH, a specialist in hydropower technology. Both companies have extensive experience in hydropower development, rehabilitation and modernisation, which is directly relevant to Fiji's objective of increasing renewable-energy generation and improving energy security. ANDRITZ already has an established track record in Fiji, having been involved with the Monasavu–Wailoa hydropower scheme and refurbishment of hydropower equipment.
Frequentis AG, which provides mission-critical communication and information systems for airports, ports and public safety, has previously delivered air traffic control and airport communications technology for Fiji's major airports, including Nadi and Nausori. The company is interested in exploring further opportunities in airport, port and other critical infrastructure.
Rosenbauer International AG, a leader in firefighting and fire-safety technology, already has an existing commercial presence in Fiji's aviation sector, with its airport rescue and firefighting vehicles operating at Nadi International Airport. The company is keen to explore further opportunities relating to airport and industrial fire protection.
AME International GmbH, which specialises in integrated healthcare infrastructure and medical equipment, is particularly interested in public-sector healthcare opportunities and working with state hospital authorities. This aligns with Fiji's efforts to strengthen healthcare facilities and improve access to modern medical services.
Beyond these core sectors, the delegation has also expressed interest in tourism-related areas such as food and beverage, machinery for food processing and waste management technologies.
The main objective of the mission is to identify concrete business opportunities in Fiji and establish long-term relationships with Fijian companies, Government agencies, infrastructure operators and potential project partners. The Austrian companies are open to different forms of cooperation, including commercial partnerships, technology and equipment supply, joint ventures with Fijian partners, participation in infrastructure and public-sector projects, and direct investment where appropriate.
For Fiji, this visit represents a significant opportunity. It brings together companies with proven expertise in areas that are central to Fiji's development agenda, including renewable energy, climate resilience, infrastructure modernisation and healthcare improvement. The engagement also builds on existing commercial relationships, creating a foundation for deeper cooperation and long-term partnerships.
Investment Fiji is supporting the mission by facilitating introductions to relevant Fijian stakeholders, project owners and potential partners. The objective is to move beyond initial introductions and identify opportunities that can develop into concrete commercial partnerships, technology cooperation or investment. Investment Fiji's role is to help ensure that the delegation's visit translates into tangible outcomes that benefit Fiji's economy, create jobs and strengthen local supply chains.
As Fiji continues to position itself as a regional hub for investment and sustainable development, engagements like this demonstrate the growing confidence of international investors and partners in Fiji's potential. The Austrian delegation's visit is a practical step towards strengthening Fiji-Austria economic ties and unlocking new opportunities for both countries.
