Fostering Stronger Partnerships and Growth in the Pacific
The New Zealand Fiji Business Council (NZFBC) is proud to announce its annual business mission to Fiji, to be held from 15 June to 18 June 2026. This highly anticipated event will see a delegation of 34 business leaders and professionals travel to Fiji under this year’s inspiring theme, “Two Billion Reasons for Being Here.”
The primary objective of the 2026 business mission is to further deepen the long-standing economic and business relationship between Fiji and New Zealand, while creating meaningful opportunities for collaboration, trade, and investment. Since 2012, the NZFBC has organised annual missions to Fiji (except during the COVID-19 years), reflecting an enduring commitment to fostering mutual growth and prosperity in the Pacific region.
This year’s mission will focus on connecting businesses, exploring new avenues for investment, engaging with key stakeholders, and identifying areas where Fijian and New Zealand businesses can work together for shared benefit.
NZFBC President Chandar Sen highlighted that Fiji is widely recognised as a strategic partner in the Pacific, and the New Zealand business community is eager to discover opportunities across diverse sectors, including tourism, renewable energy, infrastructure, agriculture, education, ICT, health, logistics, and professional services. In addition to exploring business prospects, delegates are keen to gain a deeper understanding of Fiji’s evolving economic landscape, regulatory environment, and areas of innovation.
“Fiji’s strong regional connectivity and expanding market present a compelling case for New Zealand businesses seeking to establish partnerships, expand operations, and contribute expertise and investment to the Pacific region,” said Mr. Sen.
Reflecting the growing momentum in Pacific economic recovery and enhanced Fiji–New Zealand relations, this year’s mission has experienced record interest with 32 members registering—an increase on last year’s numbers.
“This surge in participation demonstrates the New Zealand business community’s strong confidence, renewed enthusiasm, and desire to actively engage in regional partnerships and diversify their opportunities.
There is noticeably greater interest from businesses wanting to engage in the Pacific, and it’s a sign of the optimism and trust that face-to-face engagement brings to our relationships,” said Mr. Sen. “We are encouraged by this year’s response and look forward to building on this positive momentum.”
For those unable to join this year’s mission, the Council encourages businesses to stay connected and prepare early for future opportunities. Participation in missions and Council events offers invaluable access to networks, insights, and relationships that are difficult to build remotely. Businesses are invited to become involved with NZFBC, attend networking events, and begin exploring the Pacific market now to be well-positioned for future missions.
In a time of global economic challenge and uncertainty, strengthening trusted regional partnerships is more important than ever. This business mission provides a practical platform for businesses and stakeholders to engage directly, identify resilient trade opportunities, and reinforce supply chain partnerships between Fiji and New Zealand.
By facilitating business-to-business connections, investment discussions, and open dialogue, the mission aims to unlock new areas of collaboration and create long-term value for both economies. The historical and people-to-people ties that bind Fiji and New Zealand are reinforced through initiatives like this, which foster confidence, encourage investment, and support sustainable trade growth in the Pacific.
The New Zealand Fiji Business Council is grateful for the generous support of its sponsors, BSP Financial Group (Fiji) Pte Limited and Tanoa Plaza Hotel, as well as the invaluable contribution of a key donor. Their support has enabled the Council to keep registration fees well below cost, ensuring broad participation from the business community.
Established to promote and strengthen business and trade ties between New Zealand and Fiji, the NZFBC brings together companies, professionals, and stakeholders committed to building lasting partnerships in the Pacific. The Council organises regular missions, events, and networking opportunities to help members navigate the dynamic Pacific business environment and harness the many opportunities it offers.
