Strengthening Fiji-Korea business relationship

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport (MCTTT) in collaboration with Investment Fiji and Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) are organizing the Fiji-Korea Business Forum 2022 to further deepen the economic ties between both nations.

Focused on the theme ‘Building a post COVID-19 resilient economy and creating new opportunities’ the event will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, 24th August, 2022 at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.

Republic of Korea, Ambassador His Excellency Young-kyu PARK stated that the Forum has been organized to build on the success of the Fiji-Korea Trade Expo 2021 which was held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Fiji and Korea last year.

“Fiji-Korea Business Forum 2022 will be an opportune time for participants to explore new business opportunities and exchange their ideas to promote business between Fiji and Korea,” said Ambassador Park.

With its demographic and growing trade and investment opportunities across multiple sectors, Fiji holds much potential for Korean businesses.

Investment Fiji Chief Executive Officer Kamal Chetty stated the Fiji-Korea Business Forum provides the right platform to brand Fiji as an investment destination.

“Fiji provides a dynamic and a conducive business environment and offers many exciting opportunities for businesses in a wide range of sectors,” said Chetty.

“Fiji has long been connected with the Republic of Korea through the diplomatic ties and trade relations which has been maintained over the generations. The annual business forum is another opportunity to strengthen the relationship.”

The official opening of the Fiji-Korea Business Forum will be conducted by the Minister for Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport Honorable Faiyaz Koya.

President of Samsung Electronic Co. Ltd, In Yong Rhee, who is Head of Corporate Relations will attend the forum to deliver a keynote speech.

Other distinguished speakers include Trade Commissioner of Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) in New Zealand Jaegeol Lim, Director of MCTTT for Trade and Economics Seema Sharma and CEO of Investment Fiji Kamal Chetty.
